Electric bicycles are becoming increasingly popular in urban mobility. To promote the use of this means of transport and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, the government renewed the incentive for the purchase of electric bicycles, support that was already in force last year.

With the purchase of an electric bicycle for urban commuting, recover up to €500.

This incentive is back and strengthened for 2024 to continue "the decarbonization journey of mobility, a key component in the fight against climate change and a special contribution to Portugal's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050."

Who can benefit from this electric bicycle incentive?

Residents in Portugal who purchase an electric bicycle between January 1 and December 31, 2024

The support is limited to one application per individual.

The deadline for submitting applications is until December 31, 2024. Applications are processed in order of submission, so you should make your purchase as soon as possible.

How much can you receive with this Environmental Fund incentive?

50% of the PVP, up to €500.

A maximum of 4 incentives per applicant is allowed for legal entities and 1 incentive per individual. The incentives will be allocated up to a maximum of 4550 units, processed in order of submission date and time.

How to receive the support?

1. Purchase the electric bicycle

Choose your electric bicycle model, whether for commuting, leisure, or family use. Check out the models of Electrikfatbike electric bicycles.

2. Keep the receipt

Make sure the bike's frame number is included on the purchase receipt and request a declaration stating that the bicycle is for urban use. These documents will be required for the online application submission.

3. Access the Tax Authority website

Log in to the website and go to: Tax Authority.
Enter the Environmental Fund NIPC, 600086992, and click "authorize."

4. Access the Social Security website

Go to the website, log in, and go to: Social Security.
Enter the Environmental Fund NIPC, 600086992, select an end date (you can choose one year), and click "confirm."

5. Register on the Environmental Fund website.

Register on the portal of Environmental Fund.

After completing your registration, access the application form.

Fill in all the required fields.

6. Fill in the Vehicle Details

Within applications > In progress > Edit > Vehicles > Select "+ New"

Fill in the bike details, and attach the documents:

- Purchase invoice

- Seller's declaration

Select "Questionnaire" and fill it out.

7. Submit the application

Save > Edit > Submit vehicle > Submit application > Save

Confirm that the application process has been completed through the email you should receive.
